Dow Alumni Awards
The Dow University Health Sciences, Dow Medical College Alumni Awards program began in 2000 as an initiative of the DOGANA Alumni Board. Today it honors outstanding Dow University of Health Sciences Dow Medical College alumni in four categories: Distinguished Alumnus/a, Outstanding Service to the Profession, Outstanding Service to DOGANA, Dow University of Health Sciences and Outstanding Young Alumnus/a.
Proceeds from the Dow Alumni Awards Dinner benefit the Dow Alumni and DUHS and for various DOGANA projects.
The 2011 Dow Alumni Awards Dinner took place on Friday, July 2, 2011 at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand Hotel in downtown St. Louis. The following Alumni are the recipients of the 2011 Awards:
• Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna: Dr Masood Hameed Khan
• Outstanding Service to the Profession: Dr Arshad Jahangir
• Outstanding Service to DOGANA / Dow University of Health Sciences: Dr Farrukh Hashmi
• Outstanding Young Alumnus/Alumna: Dr Aneela Darbar

Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award
This is the highest distinction the DOGANA can bestow. It is intended to recognize Dow Medical College alumni who have reached the pinnacle of their careers, maintaining a level of career excellence over their lifetime. It honors alumni who have enhanced the prestige of Dow University of Health Sciences and the Dow Medical College by virtue of their character, integrity and personal accomplishments. Recipients exemplify living the DUHS mission in both their personal and professional life. Service to the university is not a prerequisite for this award; however, it is considered in the selection process.
Outstanding Service to the Profession Award
This award recognizes Dow Medical College alumni who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their chosen field or specialty—be it Academics, Research or Clinical excellence. Recipients have reached a level of excellence in their career and exemplify living the DUHS and DOGANA mission in both their personal and professional life.
Outstanding Service to DOGANA / Dow University of Health Sciences Award
This award recognizes Dow Medical College alumni who have demonstrated outstanding service to DOGANA and / or Dow University of Health Sciences—be it through volunteerism, philanthropy or any other means. Recipients have rendered significant time, talent and effort to support the mission of DOGANA / Dow University and the College. They exemplify living the DOGANA / Dow mission in both their personal and professional life.
Outstanding Young Alumnus/Alumna Award
This award recognizes the accomplishments of Dow Medical College alumni under the age of 40, or those who are young to the profession, having graduated from the DUHS or finished training within the past ten years. Recipients have shown promise in their careers and service to DUHS and the Dow Medical College. Recipients exemplify living the DUHS and DOGANA mission in both their personal and professional life.
